Antique door in a new green home
Design~Build~Live meets the third Wednesday of every month except December, when we host a holiday party instead. Meetings are from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and are free and open to the public. Watch our homepage for the upcoming topic, and search for “Monthly Meetings” via the “Categories” menu in the right bar for past topics.
With only occasional interruption, we have conducted monthly presentations on a variety of sustainable living and building topics since 1992. These have always been free (small optional donations gratefully accepted) and open to the public, and no RSVP or reservation is required. Our monthly gatherings start with about 20 minutes of meeting “business” such as introductions, announcements of upcoming events, and updates. Most of the time is devoted to a presentation and questions and answers.
Through the years we have dealt with a wide range of topics: from water conservation to the spirit of water, from straw bale details to the beauty of natural buildings, from introduction to Permaculture to designing kitchens for gardeners. Presentation titles have included the following (links are to newsletter announcements of that presentation):
Using Vintage Materials in Remodeling and New Construction
Houses that Love You Back
Energy Conservation Tips & Techniques for the Home

Rainwater catchment, Local materials in Ireland
Rainwater Harvesting
Efficient and Wonderful Lighting for Your Home
Building with Natural Local Materials
How Green is Your Cement? Better stucco, grout, and aerated concrete
