Hi all,

The current Design~Build~Live newsletter is now
available in the usual location at
<http://www.designbuildlive.org/newsletters/>.
We're trying to go easy on your email accounts by
not sending it directly, as it's rather large.

Changes:

As you may have noticed, this newsletter is
coming from a new address -
DBLNews at designbuildlive.org. We're using new
email distribution software which will
auto-archive the emails we send. Should you wish
to unsubscribe, send an email to
DBLNews-requests at designbuildlive.org with
UNSUBSCRIBE in the SUBJECT line. Or you can use
the form at
<http://designbuildlive.org/mailman/listinfo/dblnews/>

DBL's long-range plan is to move most of the
current Newsletter content to the website where
it'll be more easily accessible. The newsletter
will be a condensed reminder of what is on the
website, with links.

Efficient and Wonderful Lighting for Your Home
Guest presenter: Herbert Deazvedo, FSG Lighting

We hear a lot these days about making our homes
energy efficient by using components such as
copious amounts of insulation,
thermally-efficient windows, and high SEER air
conditioners. But other than a mention of compact
fluorescent light bulbs, little is said about the
efficiency and performance of our homeís lighting
and ceiling fans. According to the U.S.
Department of Energy, about 11% of the average
householdís energy use goes to lighting. That can
be reduced by 50% to 75% by utilizing new
lighting technologies.

Amazing developments have occurred in lamp (light
bulb) technology, fixtures and controls in recent
years. Herb Deazvedo of Austinís FSG Lighting
will describe and show some of these high
performance residential lighting solutions that
are now possible. We will talk not only about the
array of options in fluorescent lighting (no
longer green-colored and noisy!), LEDs, and
high-performance fixtures, but how to select and
control our lighting for the best performance.
Herb will also tell us about the newer, more
efficient ceiling fans.

Herbert ìHerbî Deazvedo is one of the lighting
pros at FSG Lighting (formerly American Light),
